Carta, (SONNA) — The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, during an official working visit to the Republic of Djibouti, today toured the historic city of Carta—widely regarded as the birthplace of Somalia’s third republic following the landmark reconciliation conference held there in 2000.
The Prime Minister visited key sites across the city, including the venue of the 2000 Somali Peace Conference, which has since been transformed into a national museum preserving the historical records and milestones of the event.
H.E. Barre expressed deep gratitude to the government and people of Djibouti for their pivotal role in supporting Somalia’s state-building process. He commended the establishment of the museum, noting its significance as a source of inspiration and education for future generations on the importance of peace and national reconciliation.
The visit underscored the enduring brotherly ties between Somalia and Djibouti and highlighted ongoing efforts to preserve the legacy of regional cooperation in rebuilding Somalia.
