Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre had a productive meeting with the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, who arrived in Mogadishu today for a two-day working visit.
During their meeting, PM Barre and Chairperson Youssouf discussed enhancing the relationship and partnership between the African Union and Somalia, with a particular focus on security, combating extremism, and the new African Union mission in Somalia AUSSOM.
Prime Minister Hamza commended the Chairperson for his first visit to Mogadishu, emphasizing the importance of the African Union’s support to Somalia. He also discussed the significant achievements made by the Somali government in various sectors, notably the ongoing fight against extremists threatening regional security.
Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mr. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and the dialogue with him and his delegation, affirming that the African Union will continue to stand by the government and people of Somalia.
