Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to boosting domestic production as a key strategy for economic development and achieving national food self-sufficiency.
Speaking at the official opening of the National Conference on Food and Agricultural Investment, the Prime Minister addressed the major challenges facing local agricultural production and called on Somali entrepreneurs to invest in the country’s farming sector. He emphasized the importance of reducing reliance on imports by increasing homegrown production to meet local demand.
During the event, Prime Minister Hamza also listened to presentations from Somali youth showcasing their innovations in agriculture. He encouraged young people across the country to pursue agricultural sciences and contribute to building a self-reliant and productive generation.
