Mogadishu, SONNA — The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, today chaired the high-level committee of theTowards Peace and Stability in Somalia (TPSS), a government-led initiative supported by the Government of Italy.
During the session, the committee approved the first three projects under the TPSS framework, all of which focus on strengthening Somalia’s primary healthcare system. These projects will be implemented in the regions of Jubbaland, Galmudug, and Hirshabelle—areas recently liberated from the Kharijites militants.
Prime Minister Hamza emphasized that the TPSS initiative aligns with the government’s national development agenda and is part of a broader effort to improve essential public services in conflict-affected areas.
The Italian-funded TPSS is managed by the Office of the Prime Minister and aims to promote stability by accelerating service delivery in newly recovered areas. The meeting was attended by Italian Ambassador to Somalia, H.E. Pier Mario Daccò Coppi, who reaffirmed Italy’s commitment to Somalia’s recovery and development.
The projects approved today represent a major milestone in the TPSS rollout, setting the stage for more initiatives in sectors such as education, infrastructure, and governance.
