MOGADISHU (SONNA) — The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, paid a significant visit to the residence of former President H.E. Sharif Sheikh Ahmed in Mogadishu on Thursday. The high-level meeting took place as the country prepares for scheduled talks between the Federal Government and the Council for the Future (Golaha Mustaqbalka).
This visit is part of a broader initiative by government leadership to demonstrate goodwill and foster a political environment conducive to lasting national stability. Prime Minister Hamza engaged in candid discussions with the former Head of State, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to inclusivity and open dialogue.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister affirmed that the government remains ready to engage with all political stakeholders. He stressed that the doors of the administration are open for constructive consultation to resolve outstanding political issues. The Prime Minister highlighted the necessity of sitting down with opposition figures to find common ground, ensuring the country can move forward effectively.
The leaders discussed the critical need for a united front to liberate the country from the Kharijite enemy and to maintain a collective stance against external interference in Somalia’s internal affairs. Former Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire, a member of the Council for the Future, was also present at the meeting, signaling a potential warming of relations between the government and opposition figures ahead of the formal dialogue.
