RABAT, Morocco – The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, held a strategic meeting today in Rabat with the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Morocco, H.E. Aziz Akhannouch. The high-level discussions, taking place during PM Barre’s working visit to the country, focused on fortifying diplomatic relations and expanding economic cooperation between the two nations.
During the bilateral talks, Prime Minister Hamza provided a comprehensive briefing on the significant progress Somalia has achieved in the political, security, and diplomatic arenas. A key focus of his presentation was the Federal Government’s success in implementing democratic reforms and the historic transition towards a “one person, one vote” electoral system, signaling Somalia’s commitment to inclusive governance and stability.
For his part, Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch welcomed the Somali delegation and elaborated on the strategic value of the partnership between Morocco and Somalia. He emphasized the necessity of deepening cooperation, particularly in the sectors of trade, investment, and public diplomacy, to advance the shared interests of both peoples.
The meeting in Rabat marks a significant step in reinvigorating the historical ties between Somalia and Morocco, with both leaders committing to a roadmap for enhanced collaboration in development and regional affairs.
