Mogadishu, SONNA – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, welcomed a high-level delegation from Turkey led by the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Dr. Alparslan Bayraktar. This delegation is in Somalia to participate in the historic event marking the arrival of the Oruc Reis Ship, which is set to commence oil exploration activities in the country.

The meeting, which took place at the Presidential Palace in Mogadishu, was attended by the Prime Minister of Somalia, Mr. Hamse Abdi Barre, along with several members of the Cabinet of Ministers from the Federal Government of Somalia. The presence of such high-ranking officials showed the importance of the event and the strengthening ties between Somalia and Turkey.

During the discussions, President Mohamud and Dr. Bayraktar highlighted the significance of the Oruc Reis Ship’s mission, emphasizing the potential economic benefits and the advancement of Somalia’s energy sector. The collaboration between Somalia and Turkey in this endeavor is expected to bring about substantial economic growth and development, fostering a new era of bilateral cooperation.

President Mohamud expressed his gratitude to the Turkish government for their unwavering support and commitment to Somalia’s development. He noted that the arrival of the Oruc Reis Ship symbolizes a major milestone in the country’s efforts to harness its natural resources and build a sustainable economy.

Dr. Bayraktar, in his remarks, reiterated Turkey’s dedication to supporting Somalia’s energy ambitions and highlighted the strong partnership between the two nations. He affirmed Turkey’s readiness to provide technical assistance and expertise in the oil exploration project.

The welcoming ceremony for the Turkish delegation marks the beginning of a new chapter in Somalia’s journey towards economic independence and growth. The successful completion of the Oruc Reis Ship’s mission will not only boost the country’s economy but also pave the way for further investments in the energy sector.

This historic event underscores the strategic partnership between Somalia and Turkey, reflecting a shared vision for prosperity and development. As the oil exploration activities commence, both nations are optimistic about the promising future that lies ahead.
