Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E Hassan Sheikh Mohamud together with a Government delegation, and Hir-Shabelle State President, Ali Gudlawe Hussein on Sunday visited Aden Yabal district in the Middle Shabelle region to encourage the National Army who are based there and the locals in the town.
The President praised SNA officials for gaining success in the fight against Al-Shabaab militants and ordered them to be prepared for the second phase of the offensive operation against the terrorists who still remain in western parts of Middle Shabelle and Hiiraan region under Hirshabelle State in Somalia.
During his visit, he met with the community members of Aden Yabal district and listened to a report on the living conditions of the area, noting that the district does not have basic services such as water, healthcare, education, and electricity.
The President thanked the community for their support to the Army and said that the district and other areas that have been liberated from the Al-Shabaab terrorists will be provided with basic services as soon as possible.
Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre and a delegation visited Aden Yabal district on December 14, 2022 and it was 10 days after its fall into Government control at the time.
Aden Yabal was Al-Shabaab’s major strong hold in the past 15 years .
