Mogadishu, SONNA – President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of the Federal Republic of Somalia hosted the Speaker of the East African Community (EAC) Parliament, Joseph Ntakirutimana, and his delegation at Villa Somalia. The visit aimed to strengthen ties between Somalia and the EAC Parliament, emphasizing mutual understanding and cooperation to achieve regional goals.
During the meeting, Speaker Ntakirutimana expressed gratitude for the warm reception and commended the Somali government and people for their resilience and achievements. He highlighted the importance of Somalia’s representation in the EAC Parliament and the benefits of a robust partnership.
President Mohamud reiterated Somalia’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with EAC member states, underscoring that such collaboration is vital for regional economic development, peace, security, and stability.
The meeting was attended by key Somali officials, including the Speaker of the Somali National Assembly, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur, First Deputy Speaker Saadiya Yasin Haji, Second Deputy Speaker Abdullahi Omar Abshirow, and members of the People’s Assembly of the Parliament.
