LAS ANOD, Somalia – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, convened a high-level consultative meeting with the traditional leadership of the Puntland State, led by the prominent King Burhan King Muse. The dialogue took place in Las Anod on Saturday on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony for the newly established North Eastern State administration.
During the session, President Mohamud placed a distinct responsibility on the cultural custodians to champion the defense of national sovereignty and territorial integrity. In response, King Burhan and the accompanying delegation expressed their appreciation for the Federal Government’s efforts in realizing the formation of the North Eastern State. They commended the President for his dedication to protecting Somalia’s independence and for ensuring that governance is decentralized to the grassroots level. The traditional leaders reaffirmed their commitment to Somali nationalism, pledging to take a proactive role in fostering reconciliation and social harmony across the region.
The high-profile gathering was attended by key federal officials, including cabinet ministers, the Commissioner of the Somali Police Force, senior military officers, and prominent politicians hailing from the Puntland regions.
