Mogadishu, SONNA – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, today received at the National Palace Her Royal Highness Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, a senior member of the British Royal Family.
The meeting focused on enhancing the longstanding bilateral relations between Somalia and the United Kingdom, with particular emphasis on cooperation in education and social development.
President Hassan Sheikh commended Her Royal Highness for her advocacy efforts in support of women and children, underscoring the Federal Government’s strong commitment to advancing policies and partnerships that promote their welfare and empowerment.
The President emphasized the importance of deepening collaboration between Somalia and the United Kingdom in areas that directly contribute to human development and social progress.
For her part, Her Royal Highness Sophie expressed appreciation for the warm hospitality extended to her and her delegation. She reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with Somalia and supporting initiatives that foster stability, development, and inclusive growth.
