Mogadishu (SONNA): The national celebration of Somali Teachers’ Day is currently underway at Mogadishu Stadium, with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, the Minister of Education, and other senior officials in attendance. Thousands of students from schools and universities across the capital filled the venue to mark the occasion.
This year’s ceremony is the first of its kind in 24 years, with the last large-scale commemoration held in 2001, an event attended by former President Dr. Abdiqasim Salad Hassan. The revival of the celebration underscores the renewed national commitment to honouring teachers and recognizing their central role in rebuilding Somalia’s education sector.
