MOGADISHU (SONNA)– The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, today hosted the newly elected members of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) at the Presidential Palace. The delegation will represent Somalia in the legislative body of the East African Community (EAC).
The President acknowledged the new legislators, noting that they have undertaken a significant national responsibility to defend Somalia’s interests and vision for economic cooperation and partnership within the East African bloc.
President Mohamud urged the EALA members to demonstrate high levels of leadership, expertise, and patriotism. He emphasized the importance of genuinely serving the collective interests of the Somali people and ensuring that Somalia’s voice and position are prominently heard within the East African Legislative Assembly.
This meeting follows the successful conclusion of the electoral process that selected Somalia’s first-ever representatives to the EALA, a critical step in the nation’s full integration into the EAC.
