ADDIS ABABA – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, met today with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. The leaders engaged in a constructive dialogue focused on strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries.
The meeting centered on promoting development cooperation based on good neighborliness and mutual respect, in accordance with the shared interests, sovereignty, and unity of both nations. The leaders emphasized the importance of a strong and stable regional partnership.
President Mohamud also highlighted the crucial need for stability in the Horn of Africa region and called for unified efforts to eliminate terrorism. He reiterated Somalia’s firm commitment to regional cooperation on peace, good neighborliness, and the reinforcement of stability.
This meeting is part of an ongoing series of high-level engagements between the two leaders, which began with the Ankara Declaration on December 11, 2024. These frequent talks are seen as a key step toward strengthening ties and enhancing cooperation on issues of mutual interest, including security and economic development.
