Mogadishu, Somalia (SONNA) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, His Excellency Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, addressed the nation on Friday, emphasizing the significant progress made in the ongoing fight against the Khawarij. The President spoke after leading Friday prayers at the Martyrs’ Mosque of the National Presidency, where he was joined by government officials and members of the public.

In his remarks, President Mohamud highlighted the critical victories achieved by the Somali National Army (SNA) in recent liberation operations. He praised the bravery and dedication of the army veterans, noting that their efforts have been instrumental in reclaiming territories and weakening the grip of the Khawarij.

“The Somali people and their government will not be deterred by the propaganda and lies spread by the Khawarij. We are making significant strides in securing our nation, and these achievements are a clear indication to the resilience and unity of our people,” the President stated.

President Mohamud also congratulated the various units of the National Army for their successes in the initial phases of the military campaign. He reiterated the government’s commitment to eradicating extremism and restoring peace and stability across the country.

The President called on the public to continue supporting the National Army, urging citizens to stand united in the fight against terrorism. “The few remaining hideouts of the Khawarij will be cleared, but we need the unwavering support of the Somali people to achieve this final victory,” he said.

The address comes amid a renewed offensive by Somali forces, backed by international partners, to dismantle extremist networks and liberate areas under their control. The government’s efforts have been met with widespread support from citizens, who have endured years of violence and instability.

As the campaign progresses, President Mohamud’s message shows the importance of national unity and resilience in overcoming the challenges posed by extremism. The Somali government remains committed in its mission to secure the country and get rid of Khawarij from the country.
