Mogadishu, Somalia (SONNA) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, His Excellency Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has departed for a working visit to Turkey at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Accompanied by a high-level delegation, President Mohamud is expected to hold key discussions with Turkish leaders aimed at bolstering bilateral relations between the two nations. The talks will focus on enhancing cooperation in critical areas, including military collaboration, security, and the ongoing fight against the Khawarij.
This visit marks a significant step in strengthening Somalia-Turkey ties, particularly in counterterrorism efforts. The Somali government remains focused in its commitment to eliminating extremist threats to ensure lasting peace, stability, and national reconstruction.
Somalia and Turkey share a deep strategic partnership spanning multiple sectors, such as defense, trade, the blue economy, energy, and education. Turkey has been a key ally in Somalia’s development and security initiatives, including training Somali armed forces and providing humanitarian and infrastructure support.
The discussions during this trip are expected to further solidify the alliance between the two brotherly nations, paving the way for increased collaboration in combating terrorism and fostering economic growth.
