Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has emphasized that finalizing the country’s Provisional Constitution is a national priority.
Speaking at the National Consultative Conference which he inaugurated in Mogadishu yesterday, President Hassan Sheikh stated that completing the constitution reflects the will of the Somali people and fulfills a long-standing promise made by all presidential candidates since the historic 2000 Arta Conference through to 2022.
“Finalizing the Constitution is a national priority, a public demand, and a commitment made by all presidential candidates from the Arta Conference in 2000 to 2022,” said the President.
He added that even if another candidate had been elected president, the completion of the constitution would have been among their top priorities, as it is a collective pledge to the Somali people.
