Antalya, (SONNA) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, met with his Turkish counterpart, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, on the sidelines of the 4th Antalya Diplomacy Forum to discuss bilateral relations and regional cooperation.
The two leaders engaged in high-level talks focused on strengthening diplomatic ties, enhancing strategic collaboration, and advancing shared interests in security, economic development, and humanitarian support. They reaffirmed the strong and longstanding partnership between Somalia and Türkiye, emphasizing the importance of continued cooperation in fostering peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.
During their extensive discussions, President Hassan Sheikh and President Erdoğan explored avenues to deepen Somali–Türkiye relations with a focus on security, trade, and global cooperation. Both leaders reiterated their joint commitment to combating terrorism and acknowledged Türkiye’s vital role in supporting Somalia’s path toward peace, prosperity, and a future free from the scourge of terror.
President Hassan Sheikh expressed gratitude for Türkiye’s unwavering support to Somalia in areas such as infrastructure, education, health, and military capacity-building. The leaders also exchanged views on global and regional issues, highlighting the role of diplomacy in addressing emerging challenges.
The meeting underscored Somalia’s active engagement in international diplomacy and its commitment to forging stronger alliances through platforms like the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
