Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, today officially inaugurated the newly constructed headquarters of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs in Mogadishu.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, President Hassan underscored the importance of self-reliance and national ownership in the development of government institutions, emphasizing that strengthening public service infrastructure is key to improving essential services for citizens.
He praised the Ministry for implementing prior commitments, particularly efforts to enhance the quality of services provided to Somali pilgrims and for taking steps to ease the financial burden of pilgrimage-related expenses on the public.
“This building reflects the determination and self-sufficiency of the Somali people and their government. It was made possible through efficient use of limited resources and a shared commitment to transparent, citizen-centered service delivery,” the President stated.
President Hassan also delivered a strong message against terrorism, reaffirming the government’s commitment to countering extremist ideologies that threaten the safety of civilians and the sanctity of religious institutions.
“Those who renounce extremist ideology will be welcomed back and treated as full citizens with rights and dignity. But the cruel tactics of those who bomb innocent gatherings have no place in religion or reason,” he added.
The President concluded his visit with an inspection of the new building and expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the successful completion of the project.
