Mogadishu (SONNA)-President of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo on Saturday congratulated the president of our brotherly neighbor Djibouti, H.E Ismail Omar Guelleh on winning the election again.

“Congratulations to the president of our sister country, Djibouti Ismail Omar Guelleh re-elected. It is a victory that strengthens the development and stability of the region. I am confident that you will accelerate the development and cooperation of countries in the region”, Said president Farmajo on twitter post.

President Ismail Omar Guelleh was declared the winner in Friday’s presidential election in Djibouti.
“Thank you for your trust, thank you Djibouti. Let’s continue together,” Guelleh said on Twitter shortly after results were announced.

Guelleh, 73 was re-elected with 98.58% of the vote, defeating Zakaria Ismail, an independent and a new comer candidate, according to official count.
An estimated 215,000 voters cast ballots in the country with a population of more than 1 million residents.

Guelleh will lead Djibouti for a fifth time staying in power for more than two decades, becoming one of the longest serving heads of state on the African continent.
