Mogadishu, Somalia, (SONNA) – Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre welcomed the United Nations Secretary General’s new Special Representative for Somalia, Catriona Laing today at his office.
The meeting focused on discussing UN assistance for Somalia’s transition to sustainable socio-economic, security and political development.
During the meeting, the PM and SRSG explored avenues to strengthen this progress through Government outlined priorities.
The PM praised the UN family for their relentless backing of the Somali people and institutions, stating that their close collaboration had saved millions of lives and prevented a famine in 2022.
The PM urged for continued cooperation and coordination, aligning UN support with the Government’s current agenda. This meeting marks an important step in strengthening the relationship between Somalia and the United Nations.
