Mogadishu(SONNA)-Members of both chambers of the Federal Parliament of Somalia today held a joint session in which they approved the National Budget for the year 2026.
The approved budget amounts to 1,386,807,242 (one billion, three hundred eighty-six million, eight hundred seven thousand, two hundred forty-two US dollars), reflecting the government’s financial plan for the upcoming year.
According to the voting results, 174 lawmakers voted in favor of the budget, four members voted against it, while one lawmaker abstained.
Senior government officials attending the joint session emphasized the importance of the 2026 budget in strengthening state institutions, improving security, expanding social services, and supporting economic development across the country.
The approval of the 2026 National Budget is expected to play a key role in advancing the Federal Government of Somalia’s development agenda and ongoing efforts toward stabilization and reconstruction
