Mogadishu, (SONNA) – Members of the National Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (NIEBC) conducted inspections at several voting centers prepared for the district elections in Banaadir region.
The Commission’s inspection focused on the readiness of the sites designated for voter registration in the districts of Banaadir. During their visit, members of the Commission held meetings with local officials and residents in the districts of Kaaraan, Yaaqshiid, Heliwaa, and Gubadley. The officials from the inspected districts confirmed their preparedness for the local council elections and emphasized their readiness for the public to elect their representatives.
The Commission explained to the public the importance of Somalis choosing their leaders, highlighting that today presents an opportunity to realize their aspirations for a one-person, one-vote election system, moving away from the previous indirect election methods.
