Masagaway, Galgaduud Region – Member of Parliament Abdirisaq Xusul led a delegation of officials to Masagaway District in Galgaduud Region, where they assessed the area’s security situation and development needs during a community meeting. Addressing residents, MP Xusul praised the Somali National Army and local forces for their successful counterterrorism operations that have restored relative stability to the once insurgent-affected district. “The Masagaway we see today stands in stark contrast to its troubled past—this progress is a testament to our security forces’ sacrifices,” he remarked.
The MP urged community members to maintain their support for ongoing military efforts against terrorist groups, stressing that lasting peace requires sustained collaboration between civilians and security personnel. Local elders welcomed the officials’ visit but highlighted the need for improved infrastructure and social services to consolidate security gains. The discussions underscored the government’s commitment to its stabilization strategy, which combines military operations with community engagement to rebuild trust in liberated areas.
This visit comes as Galgaduud Region experiences gradual normalization following coordinated offensives against extremist elements. Authorities plan to follow up with concrete support measures to address humanitarian and reconstruction priorities raised by Masagaway residents.
