DUBAI, UAE (SONNA) – The Director General of the Port of Mogadishu, Ambassador Mohamed Ali Nur (Americo), participated in the 2nd Middle East and Africa Port Development Forum held in Dubai. The conference gathered port authorities, investors, and international experts specializing in maritime affairs.
Ambassador Americo engaged in a series of productive meetings with key entities, including the AD Ports Group, Tanger Med Engineering, and other regional organizations. Discussions focused on crucial development initiatives for Somalia’s maritime sector, specifically:
- Accelerating the new Mogadishu port project.
- Enhancing coastal transport infrastructure.
- Boosting investment in logistics services.
The new partnerships forged during the forum are considered vital for advancing trade and establishing the Port of Mogadishu as a strategic maritime hub. The Port of Mogadishu was also praised during the forum for its performance in the World Bank’s Container Port Performance Index (CPPI), which highlighted the significant progress the port has achieved in recent times.
