MOGADISHU (SONNA) – The Manager of Mogadishu Port, Ambassador Mohamed Ali Nur (Ameriko), conducted a hands-on accountability tour on Friday, visiting various sections of the port amidst a period of vast, large-scale operations serving the Somali people.
During his inspection, the port was bustling with activity. Three large ships, laden with diverse commercial goods, were simultaneously docked and undergoing offloading operations.
This significant logistical undertaking was being managed by a coordinated effort involving various port vehicles, dedicated staff, and hundreds of Somali manual laborers, who were working diligently to ensure the efficient processing of the cargo.
Speaking during the inspection, Ambassador Americo stated that spending time with the port’s manual laborers and staff was of “special importance” to him.
He hailed the workers as the backbone of the capital port’s daily functions. The manager explicitly attributed the significant growth in services and the tangible, visible progress seen at the port today directly to their relentless hard work and dedication.
The port’s operational tempo has intensified, with its workflow notably doubling. This surge in activity comes as the Mogadishu Port continues to operate on a continuous day-and-night schedule, solidifying its reputation after recently being recognized as one of the best-service and most-developed ports in Africa.
