Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Ministry of Ports and Marine Transport of the Federal Government of Somalia is proud to announce that starting from 14th of November 2025 the Port of Mogadishu officially begins a 24/7 operations offering uninterrupted services round the clock. This significant milestone has been made possible by the strengthened security measures in the capital.
With 24-hour operations, “we expect reduced congestion and fewer delays in vessel services, while also boosting the port’s competitiveness. This will directly contribute to increased government revenue and improve the overall efficiency of trade. For Somali traders, this is a welcome development, as it will make port services more reliable and streamline business operations,” says Minister Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur.
This initiative is part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to develop the Port of Mogadishu and other ports across the country, in line with the vision of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and the Dan-Qaran Government led by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre.
“We extend our deepest gratitude to the Port Director, Ambassador Mohamed Ali Nur Americo, Albayrak-port Mogadishu, the security agencies, and all other government departments who have played a crucial role in making this progress possible,” Port Minister, Mr. Abdulkadir added.
