Mogadishu, Somalia – The Governor of Banadir Region and the Mayor of Mogadishu, Mr. Yusuf Hussein Jimale (Madaale) met with the Qatari Ambassador to Somalia, Dr. Abdalla Bin Salim Al-Naaimi, on Wednesday to discuss various issues of mutual interest, including the implementation of the previous agreements between the two countries.

One of the main topics of the meeting was the twinning of Mogadishu and Doxa, the capital city of Qatar. The twinning agreement, which was signed in 2022, aims to foster cultural, economic, and social ties between the two cities, as well as to exchange best practices and experiences in urban development and governance.

The Mayor of Mogadishu also discussed with the Qatari Ambassador the progress of the ongoing projects funded by Qatar to support the reconstruction and development of the Somali capital, such as the rehabilitation of roads, schools, hospitals, and public facilities. He expressed his gratitude to the Kingdom of Qatar for its consistent and generous support to the Somali people and government.

The Qatari Ambassador reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening the bilateral relations and cooperation with Somalia, especially in the fields of security, humanitarian aid, and infrastructure. He praised the efforts of the Somali authorities to restore peace and stability in the country, and to improve the living conditions of the citizens.

The meeting was held in a cordial and friendly atmosphere, and both sides agreed to continue working together to enhance the partnership and friendship between Somalia and Qatar.
