Mogadishu (SONNA) — The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs on Monday convened a Social Protection Coordination Meeting in Mogadishu, aimed at strengthening collaboration between the Federal Government, Federal Member States, and development partners to accelerate social protection programs.
The meeting was officially opened by the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Salim Aliyow Ibroow, who underscored the importance of coordinated social protection efforts to effectively reach Somalia’s most vulnerable populations.
The Deputy Minister, Aamina Xuseen Cali, also participated, highlighting the Ministry’s leadership role in advancing and harmonizing social protection initiatives nationwide.
During the session, participants reviewed progress and lessons learned from key programs, including Child Sensitive Social Protection (CSSP), Baxnaano, SAGAL Project, USR, and SPDS. Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening Shock-Responsive Social Protection mechanisms and improving coordination and data-sharing among stakeholders.
The meeting forms part of the Ministry’s broader efforts to build a sustainable and inclusive social protection system that effectively serves Somalia’s vulnerable communities.
