Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia hosted a national town hall meeting in Mogadishu on aligning customary justice with the rule of law. Senior officials including the Minister of Justice, Hassan Moallim, Supreme Court President, Bashe Yusuf Ahmed, legal experts, academics, women, youth, and community leaders are participating.
Faysal Aadan Xasan, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, officially opened the town hall meeting on Customary Justice and the Rule of Law, emphasizing the need for inclusive, rights-based reforms to ensure equitable access to justice for all.
Speaking at the forum on customary justice and the rule of law, Minister Hassan Moallim highlighted the gap between traditional practices and formal justice, affirming the Ministry’s leadership in efforts to harmonize both systems.
Chief Justice Baashe Yuusuf Axmed, speaking at the town hall on customary justice and the rule of law, underscored its essential role in resolving disputes and reducing the burden on formal courts.
