MOGADISHU, SONNA – The Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism has launched a two-day workshop in Mogadishu focused on facilitating public access to information. The event brings together 35 participants from government agencies, media organizations, and civil society to explore the opportunities and challenges surrounding the right to information and relevant legal frameworks.
Speaking at the opening session, Mr. Abdinasir Hussein Hassan, Acting Director General and Director of Administration and Finance, highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to fostering discussions among key stakeholders on improving access to government information.
Somali Police Spokesperson Col. Abdifitaah Adam Hassan praised the initiative and reaffirmed the readiness of security agencies to support transparency and ensure public access to essential information.
The workshop, supported by the United Nations Transition Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNTAMIS), was welcomed by participants, who emphasized the importance of knowledge-sharing and collaboration in strengthening governance and media freedom.
This training aligns with the Ministry’s broader efforts to enhance cooperation between the government, media, and civil society in promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance.
