Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia has concluded a two-day workshop focused on facilitating public access to information.
The workshop, organized by the ministry, brought together 35 participants from government institutions, the media, and civil society organizations. Over the course of two days, attendees exchanged knowledge and discussed strategies to improve transparency and access to information for the public.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Director General of the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Abdullahi Hayir Du’ale, commended the participants for their engagement and emphasized the ministry’s commitment to strengthening collaboration between the government, media, and civil society. He stressed that such initiatives are essential for enhancing public awareness and ensuring better access to information.
Burhaan Diini Farah, Director of Kulmiye Radio and Head of the SOMA Media Network, along with Eng. Nur Sheikh Ali, speaking on behalf of media representatives, expressed their appreciation to the ministry for organizing the workshop. They highlighted its significance in improving access to information for both journalists and the public.
The workshop, supported by the United Nations Transition Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNTMIS), concluded with the distribution of certificates to participants who successfully completed the training.
This initiative is part of the Ministry of Information’s broader efforts to strengthen cooperation between the government, media, and civil society to promote public awareness and good governance.
