Dhusamareb, (SONNA) – The Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hon. Ali Yusuf Ali Hosh attended the second annual Galmudug Book Fair held in Dhusamareb, the capital of Galmudug State.
In his address at the event, Minister Ali Hosh highlighted the significance of writing in fostering peace, raising awareness, and promoting societal progress. “The culture of writing is a valuable tradition that nurtures peace, educates the public, and drives development while rectifying societal challenges. This platform is crucial for enriching the culture of reading and writing, preserving our country’s history, addressing current issues, and envisioning a better future,” he stated.
The Minister also underscored the importance of writing in the Somali language, stressing the need to preserve the nation’s identity through its script. “I urge more works to be written in the Somali script, as it not only reflects our national identity but also inspires future generations to uphold and continue this heritage, preventing the loss of our script, as has happened to many other nations,” he added.
Minister Ali Hosh thanked the people and administration of Galmudug, particularly the residents of Dhusamareb, for organizing and hosting the event. He commended their efforts in fostering a culture of reading and writing, which is vital for the development of Somali society.
The event was closed by the President of Galmudug State, H.E Ahmed Abdi Kariye (Qoorqoor) and he encouraged the writers to continue the good work and keep developing the Somali culture in writing.
