Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Daud Aweis Jama, today received a delegation from the Arab League led by Mr. Zayd Al Sabban, Director of the Horn of Africa and Sudan Department at the League.
The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in media and cultural development, particularly on strengthening programs to promote the Arabic language.
Minister Aweis commended the Arab League’s role in advancing Arabic and affirmed that the National Media stands ready to revive its traditional role in supporting Arabic language initiatives.
For his part, Mr. Al Sabban stressed the League’s commitment to working closely with Somalia’s National Media and expressed readiness to provide full support.
The Minister and the Arab League delegation also visited the Radio Mogadishu Archives, where efforts are underway to modernize the archive system through digitalization.
The meeting was attended by the Director General of the Ministry of Information, Mr. Abdullahi Hayir Nur; Somalia’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Amb. Ali Abdi Aware; Dr. Rami Zaki Iskandar, Director of Education at ALECSO; Dr. Ali Abdalla Al-Naeem, Director of the Arabic Language Institute in Khartoum; Amb. Abdullahi Mudhlaq Al-Uteybah, the Arab League’s Envoy to Somalia; and other senior officials from both sides.
