Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Daud Aweis Jama, officially launched a four-day conference today in Mogadishu focused on the role of civil society organisations in combating and preventing the spread of extremist ideologies.
This conference was jointly organized by the National Agency for the Prevention of Extremist Thought (TUBSAN) and the CCCPT-ASWAN FORUM from Egypt. The Minister highlighted the importance of this knowledge-sharing event, stating that it reflects the implementation of the strategic agreement recently signed in Cairo by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
Minister Aweis further emphasized that this conference strengthens the role of civil society organizations in the fight against terrorism and aims to eliminate extremist ideologies from the country. He noted that this effort is part of the three pillars in the battle against the Al-Shabaab militants, which include military action, economic control, and ideological strategies.
The conference was attended by ministers, diplomats, and other distinguished guests. Speakers included the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Mohamed Barre, the State Minister for Justice, Mr. Ilyas Sheikh Omar, the African Union Representative Mohamed Al Emine Souef, the Director General of TUBSAN, Mr. Abdullahi Mohamed Nur, and other officials.
