Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Ahmed Moalim Fiqi received a high-level Turkish delegation on Monday led by Deputy Foreign Minister Prof. Burhanettin Duran. The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral relations, expanding strategic cooperation, and strengthening mutual economic and security partnerships.
Deputy Minister Duran conveyed a message from Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, reaffirming Turkey’s commitment to deepening ties with Somalia. He also highlighted progress made since the Ankara Declaration of December 11, 2024, which set the framework for increased collaboration between the two nations.
Both sides emphasized the importance of implementing signed agreements across key sectors, including defense, investment, fisheries, and natural resources. The discussions underscored the need for a strong and sustainable partnership that fosters economic growth and long-term prosperity for both nations.
The meeting was attended by Somalia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, senior ministry officials, and directors of key departments, reaffirming the shared commitment to strengthening strategic cooperation and advancing common interests.
