Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Government of Somalia, Ambassador Ahmed Moallim Fiqi recently held a meeting with a delegation from the Indian Embassy in Nairobi to advance discussions on establishing a visa facilitation center in Mogadishu. This initiative follows earlier negotiations aimed at finalizing an agreement between Somalia and India.
The talks, which also included Mr. Saeed Jama Mire, Director of the Asia and Australia Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, underscored the strategic importance of the proposed center. The initiative aims to address the growing demand among Somali citizens traveling to India, particularly for medical purposes.
The proposed center is expected to streamline the visa application process, eliminating the need for Somali citizens to travel to neighboring countries for visa services. This will significantly reduce travel costs and logistical challenges for applicants. The facility is also anticipated to expedite the visa process, making it more accessible and cost-effective for Somali travelers.
By simplifying the process, the initiative will not only enhance convenience but also strengthen bilateral relations and foster deeper collaboration between Somalia and India.
