Nairobi, (SONNA) – The Minister of Finance of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Bihi Iman Egeh opened a week long 1st Review of the ECF-Supported Program with the IMF alongside the Minister of Planning, Hon. Mohamud Beenebeene and the Governor of the Central Bank of Somalia.
“The meeting will assess progress made in domestic revenue, PFM, financial sector deepening and national development plan implementation,” Minister Egeh said.
The meeting also discussed Somalia’s economic growth, FGS’s fiscal outlook for 2024, sound public finance management, debt sustainability and transparency in reporting.
“Had a productive discussion during the first review meeting of the new IMF Program post-HIPC, focusing on reinforcing past successes, NDP-9 progress, and preparation of NTP. Insightful discussions also centred on climate resilience, notably the Post-Disaster Needs Assessment,” Minister Beenebeene said.
The ECF program aims to support transformation opportunity for our country in the post-HIPC era. The delegation will continue discussions with the IMF mission team and we look forward to productive dialogues in the next few days.
