Mogadishu, Somalia — The Minister of Finance for the Federal Government of Somalia, Bihi Iman Igge, today officially concluded a training program for government agencies on the implementation of the 2026 program-based budget.
The training, which brought together representatives from various government institutions, focused on ensuring that each agency can effectively prepare and submit its budget proposals for 2026. The program’s goal is to align budget requests with specific work activities and projects, improving accountability and efficiency in government spending.
Minister Igge emphasized the importance of this new approach, stating that it will create a more transparent and results-oriented budgeting process. He highlighted that the training is a key step in modernizing Somalia’s financial management and ensuring that public funds are used effectively to achieve national development goals.
The initiative is part of a broader government effort to strengthen institutional capacity and implement a more structured and strategic approach to national finance, moving away from traditional, line-item budgeting.
