Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Minister of Communications and Technology of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hon. Mohamed Adan Maalin (Soomaali), today held a meeting with the new European Union Ambassador to Somalia, H.E. Francesca Di Mauro.
The discussion focused on enhancing cooperation between Somalia and the European Union in the areas of communications, digital development, and cybersecurity.
Minister Soomaali thanked the EU for its continued support to the Ministry, particularly through the recently concluded “Initiative for Digital Government and Cybersecurity (IDGC) for the Horn of Africa” project, funded by the EU, which aimed to advance e-governance and digital security across the region.
Ambassador Di Mauro reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to support Somalia’s digital transformation, emphasizing the importance of developing youth digital skills, regional connectivity, and green technology investments.
The meeting reflected the shared commitment of both sides to deepen their strategic partnership in advancing Somalia’s digital progress, cybersecurity, and modern public service delivery.
