Mogadishu, Somalia – The Minister of Communications and Technology of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Adan Macalin Ali (also known as Mohamed Somali), recently participated in a crucial meeting at the AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva. The summit, which focuses on harnessing the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) for positive impact, has seen significant advancements in recent times.

One of the key topics discussed during the summit was the importance of building trust in AI data. Minister Mohamed Somali highlighted the need to prevent leaks of sensitive information that could pose risks. To achieve this, he emphasized that each country should develop its own laws and procedures tailored to its specific needs while aligning with global standards. By doing so, countries can ensure the responsible and secure use of AI technologies.

Minister Mohamed Somali stressed the significance of international cooperation in managing various aspects of AI. He recognized that developing countries, including Somalia, must actively participate in shaping AI policies and practices. Cooperation among nations is essential to ensure that all countries can benefit from the immense potential of AI while addressing ethical, legal, and technical challenges.

In his presentation, Minister Mohamed Somali called for mutually agreed standards in AI adoption. These standards would ensure that no country is left behind in the AI revolution. By establishing common guidelines, nations can collaborate effectively, share knowledge, and collectively address global challenges related to AI.

The AI for Good Global Summit continues to be a vital platform for policymakers, experts, and stakeholders to collaborate, exchange ideas, and drive positive change through AI. Minister Mohamed Somali’s active participation underscores Somalia’s commitment to leveraging AI for the benefit of its citizens and the global community.
