Harardhere, Mudug Region, Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, undertook a significant working visit to the district of Harardhere in the Mudug region. His purpose: to inspect and engage with the Somali National Army’s elite Gorgor Commandos unit. During this visit, Minister Fiqi reinforced key messages from the nation’s highest leadership, including President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

Aiming to gain firsthand insights into the operational readiness of the Gorgor Commandos unit, Minister Fiqi held discussions with top commanders of the unit. The focus of the talks centered on the ongoing efforts to combat the terror group Al-Shabaab within the region. These discussions provided valuable insights into the unit’s current operations, its strategic plans, and the progress made in curbing the activities of Al-Shabaab.

Expressing his admiration for the soldiers’ courage and selflessness, Minister Fiqi commended the Gorgor Commandos for their commitment to the security of Somalia. In a resounding show of support, he reassured them that the government’s resolve to defeat Al-Shabaab remains unwavering. “We are dedicated to liberating our nation from the clutches of Al-Shabaab,” Minister Fiqi stated emphatically.

Minister Fiqi also took the opportunity to convey a message of solidarity from President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, affirming the administration’s backing of the Gorgor Commandos and their endeavors. He assured the unit that the government will stand by them and provide the necessary assistance required to eliminate the Al-Shabaab threat from the nation.

The visit to the Gorgor Commandos’ command station showcased the government’s commitment to combating terrorism and securing the country’s future. As Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi departed Harardhere, his message resonated with hope and determination. The joint effort to vanquish Al-Shabaab and pave the way for a safer Somalia continues to forge ahead under the nation’s united resolve.
