Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Governor of Banadir region and the Mayor of Mogadishu, Yusuf Hussein Jim’ale (Madale) received the Italian Ambassador to Somalia, Mr. Alberto Vecchi, and the Mayor was accompanied in the meeting by the Deputy Chairman of Security and Politics of the Banadir Regional Administration and the Commander of the Banadir Police.
The meeting discussed bilateral cooperation and acceleration of investment projects by the Italian government in developing the capital city, particularly in the infrastructure.
The Mayor and the Ambassador went on an inspection visit to the Italian monument near the Banadir Administration and the Italian House (Casa Italia) that the government of Italy requested to be evicted and handed back to them.
The Ambassador said that the Casa Italia which is in the heart of the capital is a symbolic place both for Somalia and Italy.
“I am here to thank the Somali Authority System, the President HE Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, the Government and especially the Mayor of Mogadishu, for having restituted this historical and symbolic place, not only to Italy but to both Italy and Somalia for a public use”, Ambassador Vecchi said.
