Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Governor of Banadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab), has announced the reassignment of 300 municipal staff members to the Department of Sanitation and Urban Beautification as part of a broader effort to enhance the cleanliness and visual appeal of the capital city.
The mayor stated that the Banadir Regional Administration has been actively engaged in reforming and revitalizing the municipal workforce, overhauling financial management systems, and introducing regulatory frameworks to ensure transparency, accountability, and improved public service delivery.
“Our goal is to ensure that every citizen receives their basic rights, and that the residents of Mogadishu can access essential services from their local government,” Mayor Muungaab said. “Taxpayers deserve quality services — including free education, accessible healthcare, and clean, well-maintained roads.”
He emphasized that the city’s sanitation department will not rely solely on manual labor but will soon be equipped with modern garbage collection trucks, operational offices, and fully resourced facilities to improve service delivery.
This move signals a renewed commitment from the Mogadishu Municipality to reinvest public resources into visible and impactful services, reinforcing the social contract between local authorities and the citizens they serve.
