Migadishu, SONNA — The Governor of the Banadir Regional Administration and Mayor of Mogadishu, Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Mungab), on Tuesday inaugurated ten newly constructed interlocking roads in Suuq Bacaad, the second largest market in the Somali capital.
The road infrastructure project forms part of the Banadir Regional Administration’s broader efforts to improve urban mobility, enhance public services, and support economic activity across Mogadishu. Ba’ad Market, a key commercial hub serving thousands of traders and residents daily, has long required upgraded infrastructure to ease congestion and improve access.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, Mayor Mungab underscored the administration’s commitment to modernizing the city’s infrastructure, particularly in major markets that play a vital role in livelihoods and local commerce. He noted that the completion of the interlocking roads would significantly improve transportation, sanitation, and overall safety within the market area.
The project is also expected to facilitate smoother movement of goods and people, reduce dust and flooding during rainy seasons, and contribute to the orderly development of Ba’ad Market.
Local traders and community members welcomed the development, describing it as a timely intervention that will boost business activity and improve the working environment in one of Mogadishu’s busiest marketplaces.
The Banadir Regional Administration continues to implement road construction and rehabilitation projects across the capital as part of its urban development and service delivery agenda.
