Mogadishu, SONNA – In a significant boost to Somalia’s military infrastructure, Major General Ibrahim Shekh Muhuyidin, Chief of the National Armed Forces, presided over a ceremonial reception of new military equipment today. The European Union has generously donated a fleet of vehicles to the National Army’s 14th October Battalion, which is stationed in the strategic Lower Shabelle region.
This contribution is part of the EU’s ongoing support to enhance the operational readiness and mobility of Somalia’s armed forces. The 14th October Battalion, renowned for its pivotal role in maintaining security and stability in the area, will greatly benefit from this augmentation.
The handover ceremony, held at the battalion’s base, was attended by various dignitaries and military officials. Major General Muhuyidin expressed his gratitude towards the EU for their unwavering support and highlighted the importance of such partnerships in bolstering Somalia’s defense capabilities.
