Mogadishu, (SONNA) – Local forces known as the Macawisley, operating in Somalia’s Hiiraan region, have carried out a large-scale operation that dealt a significant blow to Al-Shabaab militants in areas under Maxaas District.
The operation followed credible intelligence indicating militant movements in the targeted locations. According to reports, the militants suffered heavy casualties, and planned attacks targeting civilians were successfully thwarted.
Commanders leading the operation stated that security operations will continue until Al-Shabaab elements hiding in parts of the region are fully eliminated, emphasizing that restoring and maintaining overall security remains a top priority.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts by the Somali National Army, working alongside local community fighters, to enhance peace and stability across the Hiiraan region.
