Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Minister of Internal Security of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail (Fartaag), today held a meeting in Mogadishu with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Somalia, Mr. Wang Yu, to discuss ways to strengthen the historic ties between the two nations, particularly in the areas of security and institutional development.
During the meeting, Ambassador Wang reaffirmed China’s firm support for Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, emphasizing Beijing’s respect for international law and its recognition of the Federal Republic of Somalia as a unified, independent state.
The Chinese envoy also shared a range of new support programs aimed at bolstering Somalia’s security institutions. These include technical training, knowledge exchange workshops, and capacity-building initiatives in demining, police training, and professional development — all part of China’s broader efforts to assist Somalia’s state-building process.
Minister Fartaag welcomed the continued partnership and expressed gratitude for China’s consistent support in the areas of security, training, and institutional strengthening. He noted that enhanced bilateral cooperation is key to building lasting peace and national stability.
