Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Daud Aweis Jama, chaired a meeting of the Ministerial Committee on Combating the Misuse of Social Media.
The meeting followed up on last month’s Cabinet resolution aimed at addressing the improper use of social media, which has been linked to incitement, conflict escalation, and unethical behavior.
Minister Daud Aweys emphasized the Somali government’s commitment to safeguarding freedom of expression while ensuring that social media does not pose threats to national security, social cohesion, and public morality.
The committee resolved to swiftly implement the directives outlined in the Cabinet’s resolution, reinforcing efforts to regulate digital platforms responsibly.
