Washington DC(SONNA)-The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has issued the fourth review of its cooperation program with the Somali government, following two weeks of intensive meetings between government officials and IMF staff, led by the Ministry of Finance and senior IMF representatives, under the supervision of Ran Bi, IMF Resident Representative in Somalia.
The report, approved by the IMF Executive Board, indicates that the meetings held in Nairobi from September 16 to October 8, 2025, produced tangible outcomes to support economic reforms in the country.
Somalia’s Minister of Finance, Bihi Iman Seigi, welcomed the report, noting that it reflects the significant efforts undertaken by the government in implementing economic reforms, and emphasized that the government continues to strengthen the Somali economy, which is currently in a good position.
The review comes after a comprehensive assessment of financial policies and structural reforms implemented by the government, aimed at supporting economic stability and sustainable growth.
